Research Officer

As Research Officer, Shamira supports the application, nominations review and adjudication processes for Canada Gairdner International and Wightman Awards, with the former being the most prestigious Canadian prize in Biomedical Sciences that is seen by many as a precursor to the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. In addition, she is responsible for increasing the number and strengthening the cohort of active nominations, as well as raising the awareness of the scholarly community about the Foundation and its initiatives.

Shamira is a living proof that art and science can coexist and even thrive together. She has performed piano on a variety of international stages, and received graduate training in molecular and cell biology. Shamira holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and a Master of Science degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. A constant learner, Shamira’s current scholarship endeavor is a post-graduate certificate in Project Management at the University of Toronto.
